Danny Glen Green passed away, leaving behind a legacy of love, generosity, and service to his family and community.
Born on November 19, 1945, to Glen and Juanita Green, Danny was raised in West Orange, Texas, where he spent the remainder of his life. He was proud to call West Orange home and formed lifelong friendships through his work, community involvement, and love of sports.
As a young man, Danny was active in the Bridge City and Orange baseball leagues, where he developed a lifelong passion for the game. That passion continued into adulthood as he became a mentor to countless young baseball players in the Bridge City and Orange Baseball Leagues. He believed in encouraging young athletes both on and off the field, and many will remember the positive influence he had on their lives.
In 1969, Danny began his career at Firestone Polymers in Orange as a laboratory technician. Through dedication and hard work, he built a career spanning more than four decades before retiring in 2011. His commitment and strong work ethic earned the respect and admiration of his coworkers and friends.
Danny was also a member of St. Henry’s Knights of Columbus, where he enjoyed serving his church and community.
Above all else, Danny’s greatest joy was his family. He shared 34 wonderful years of marriage with his beloved wife, Phyllis Green. Together they built a life filled with love, laughter, and cherished memories. Whether celebrating holidays, enjoying family gatherings, or simply spending quiet time together, Danny treasured every moment with those he loved.
When he wasn’t with family, Danny enjoyed golfing, dancing, reading about Texas history, and challenging himself with crossword puzzles. His curiosity, warm smile, and appreciation for life’s simple pleasures made him a joy to be around.
Danny was preceded in death by his parents, Glen and Juanita Green; his brother, Bobby Green; and his stepson, Charles Cessac.
He leaves behind to cherish his memory his loving wife of 34 years, Phyllis Green; his sons, Slade Green (Christie), Troy Green (Deesie); his bonus son, Phillip Saperstein (Leigh Ann); his daughter-in-law, Gina Cessac; his grandchildren, Megan McLeroy (Mitchell), Makenzie Robinson (Cole), Gavin Green (Macie), Anthony Cessac (Shelby), Collin Cessac (Savannah), and Andrew Cessac; and his great-grandchildren, Campbell Cessac, Brooklyn and Brayden McLeroy, and Beckham and Bennett Robinson.
He also leaves behind many extended family members, dear friends, and countless lives touched by his kindness and generosity.
Danny will be remembered for his kind heart, quiet strength, generous spirit, and unwavering devotion to his family and friends. His legacy lives on through the many young athletes he mentored, the friendships he cultivated, and the family he loved so deeply. Though he will be greatly missed, his love, wisdom, and example will continue to inspire all who knew him.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, August 8, at Claybar Funeral Home in Bridge City, Texas. Visitation begins at 10:00 a.m., followed by the Rosary at 11:00 a.m. Funeral services will begin at 11:30 a.m.
The family would like to express their heartfelt gratitude to the staff of Oak Grove Nursing Facility and Southeast Texas Hospice for the compassionate care, kindness, and support they provided to Danny and his family during his final days.
