Obituary

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Devaine Barnhill, who departed this life on August 7, 2026, in Silsbee, Texas. Born on March 31, 1932, in DeQuincy, Louisiana, Devaine proudly served his country as an Airman 1st Class in the United States Air Force, a testament to his dedication and patriotism.

Devaine found immense joy in the simple pleasures of life, particularly through his passions for fishing and hunting. He was a familiar and beloved presence in Nederland, where he made his home since 1960, building a life filled with cherished memories and strong community ties.

He leaves behind a loving family to cherish his memory, including his son, Devaine Barnhill, Jr., and daughter, Denise Barnhill. Devaine was also a proud grandfather to Scott Barnhill and Devaine "Trey" Barnhill, III, and a doting great-grandfather to Michael, Brice, and Natalia.

Devaine was preceded in death by his beloved parents, Travis and Maudie Barnhill, his brother, Travis Barnhill, Jr., and his sister, Sonya George. His legacy of service, love for the outdoors, and devotion to family will forever be remembered.

Family and friends will celebrate the memory of Devaine with a visitation on Tuesday, August 11, 2026, 1:00 pm - 2:00 pm and a funeral service at 2:00 p.m. to be held at Melancon Levingston Funeral Home, 1605 Avenue H, Nederland, Texas. Following the funeral service, interment will take place at Memory Gardens Cemetery in Nederland, Texas.
