Obituary
Gay DeHart, a beloved mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, passed away peacefully on October 7, 2026, at Houston Methodist The Woodlands in Conroe, Texas, at the age of 95. Born in Port Arthur, Texas, on July 14, 1931, Gay lived a life rich in creativity, dedication, and unwavering faith, leaving a lasting impact on all who knew her.
Gay earned her Master's Degree in Music from Lamar University, a testament to her passion for the arts. She dedicated 32 years of her life to teaching music in Nederland ISD, enriching the lives of countless students at Langham Elementary and Highland Park Elementary before her well-deserved retirement. Beyond her professional life, Gay was a faithful member of Landmark United Pentecostal Church in Port Neches, where her spirit of community and devotion shone brightly. She was also a wonderfully creative seamstress, lovingly crafting costumes for her children and grandchildren, each stitch a thread of her boundless affection.
Gay's life was beautifully centered around her cherished family. She was preceded in death by her parents, Willie and Addie Williams; her beloved husband of 53 years, Kimmie DeHart; her brother, Harold Williams; her sister, Chloe Connella; and her granddaughter, Ashely Stout. Her memory will be forever treasured by her loving family: her son, Derrell DeHart and his wife, Debra of Guyton, Georgia; her daughters, Gaylynn DeHart of Magnolia, Texas, and Colleen DeHart Kitay of Houston, Texas. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Kim LeBlanc and her husband, Witland of The Woodlands, Colin DeHart and his wife, Cathy of Nederland, Kerri DeHart of Nederland, Adam Stout of Houston, Tyler Kitay of Houston, and Taylor Kitay of Houston; her great-grandchildren, Kameron Lester, Kennedy Schaper and her husband, Austin, Jack DeHart, Bailey Newman, Hannah DeHart, Annalyse LeBlanc, Abigail DeHart, and Andrew DeHart; and a host of loving nieces and nephews.
A visitation will be held on Monday, October 12, 2026, from 12:00 p.m. to 1:00 p.m. at Landmark United Pentecostal Church in Port Neches, Texas. The Home Going Service will follow at 1:00 p.m. at Landmark United Pentecostal Church, with Pastor James D. Lee officiating. Entombment will take place at Oak Bluff Memorial Park in Port Neches, with Pastor James D. Lee officiating.
