George “David” Peet, 77, of Hemphill, Texas and formerly of Orange, Texas, passed away on August 8, 2026.
Born on June 14, 1949, in Orange, Texas, he was the son of Jarvy and Arlene Peet. David dedicated 30 years of his career as an operator for Chevron until his retirement. In addition to his work at Chevron, he also owned and operated his own lawn service. David found joy in many activities, including fishing, hunting, listening to music, and reading. He loved to travel, with Choke Canyon holding a special place in his heart. A passionate collector of guns, he enjoyed spending time at the shooting range. In his youth, David was an avid baseball and football player. He was a member of First Presbyterian Church in Orange and also attended church in Hemphill. Known affectionately as "Granddad," David cherished his grandchildren, loving to see them and impart life lessons. He will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved him.
David is survived by his loving wife of 37 years, Virginia Peet; his daughters, Kim Bordelon and husband, Chris, Shelly Folk and husband, Bo, and Jennifer Thigpen and husband, Jason. He also leaves behind his grandchildren, Brittany, Jordan, Kori, Alex, Hunter, Aaron, Codie, and McKinley; and his great-grandchildren, Alicia, Kayden, Rylee, Rucie, Dakota, Olivia, Hendrix, Abigail, Ziggy, Madelyn, Bowen, and Lincoln; along with numerous other loving family and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Jarvy and Arlene Peet, and his grandson, Justin Richoux.
A private family service will be held under the direction of Claybar Funeral Home.
