GLADYS MARIE VAYON LEDOUX

Gladys Marie Vayon LeDoux, 91, of Orangefield, Texas, passed away peacefully on October 4, 2026, at Sabine Place in Orange, Texas, surrounded by family.

Born on November 19, 1934, in Orangefield, to Hasney and Lula (LaPointe) Vayon, Gladys graduated as the Valedictorian of her class. After marrying Wilbert LeDoux in 1954, she dedicated her life to raising their five children, cooking incredible meals (and her famous hot rolls!), sewing beautiful clothes for them, and creating a warm welcoming home. She somehow managed to find the time to plant a huge garden, which provided incredible vegetables for her family.

Before she planted her garden, she quietly broke ground when she became the first female administrative secretary for Orangefield I.S.D., after she completed secretarial school at Lamar University. She later became a beloved cafeteria lady and retired after working 20 years in the school district. She was a founding member of St. Helen Catholic Church and was a member of the VFW Auxiliary and the Altar Society for many years.

As a devoted Catholic, she faithfully prayed for her family and friends. She loved to read, and her favorite book was the Bible she received as a wedding gift. She had a servant’s heart and was always willing to help anyone in need. Her greatest loves were her family and her church.

She and Wilbert were married for 59 years. They loved dancing, camping, and spending time with family and friends.

Gladys was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Wilbert LeDoux, sister Clara Vayon Doyle, and brothers Gilbert Vayon and J.B. Vayon.

She is survived by son, Larry LeDoux, son and daughter-in-law, Michael and Shelley LeDoux, and daughters and sons-in-law, Janice and Bob Coberly, Patricia and Wynne Mires, and Susan and Donny Clark; grandchildren Melissa Watts, Katrina Jones, Spencer Coberly, Adam Coberly, Heather Whisenant, Jacalyn Mires, Stacey Rodrick, Brittney Agerton, Paris Clark, Madison Clark, Morgan Clark, Jacob LeDoux, Ashley Robinson, and Cody Douget; 20 great grandchildren; and 8 great-great grandchildren.

Serving as pallbearers are Donny Clark, Jacob LeDoux, Spencer Coberly, Adam Coberly, Braden Anthony, Jordan Whisenant, Rylan Agerton, Andrew Rodrick, Jaxon Agerton, and Landon Agerton.

Funeral services will be held on October 9 at 2 00 p.m. at St. Helen Catholic Church in Orangefield with Father Michael Strother officiating. Entombment will follow at St. Mary Catholic Cemetery in Orange.
