Michael Smith, 75, of Nederland, Texas, passed away on October 17, 2026, surrounded by family at Bonne Vie Nursing Home in Port Arthur, Texas. He was born on August 14, 1951, in Port Arthur.

Michael previously worked for the Port Arthur News. Michael had a passion for working on electronics and found joy in music, often spending his time as a DJ, dancing, and singing karaoke. He cherished the companionship of his beloved dog, Tony, and treasured moments spent with his friends and family. Michael was a dedicated member of the St. Charles Knights of Columbus.

He is survived by his loving wife of 37 years, Patti Sue Smith; his brother, David Smith; his sister, Betty Washenfelder; many brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law; numerous nieces and nephews; and several great-nieces and great-nephews. Michael was preceded in death by his parents, Walker Isaac and MaryAnn Smith; and his brother-in-law, Jim Scott.

The family extends their heartfelt gratitude to the staff at Bonne Vie Nursing Home and Hospice for their compassionate care.

A visitation to honor Michael Smith will be held at Melancon Levingston Funeral Home, 1605 Avenue H., Nederland, Texas on October 23, 2026 at 10:00 a.m. with a Rosary beginning at 11:00 a.m. The funeral service will be at 12:00 p.m. followed by a burial at Oak Bluff Memorial Park in Port Neches, Texas.
